My husband and I are hoping to do the Marin walkabout this fall. Starting to plan and save for it now and we are wondering what others have done for lunches? Do you pack all of them with you before you set out or do you buy supplies along the way??

We packed three days worth of Clif bars and lots of dried fruit and nuts. It was really all we wanted in the middle of these hilly hikes. We brought two large aluminum water bottles per person and needed every drop.

We did not have a problem with finding lunches along the way.... The Peligan Inn packed us a lunch.. We requested it the night before. Stinson beach has a great market tha opens up at 9AM and can make sandwiches. Bolinas has a breakfast Kiosk that opens up at 7 AM that makes buritos that we took on the trail that made a fine lunch.

On walkabouts we often buy sandwiches before we leave every morning. You can buy lunch in Stinson Beach, Bolinas and Olema. From Marin Headlands and Muir Beach I would suggest bringing lunch from home. We often pack crackers, a durable cheese such as smoked gouda, hummus, avocado, etc. If you don't feel like carrying lunch, the hiking days on the Marin Walkabout are short so you could bring a Clif Bar and eat a late lunch when you arrive at your destination.
Other suggestions for lunch on the Marin Walkabout or other inn to inn hikes?
Thanks for the info! We aren't familiar with the area, so knowing we can get something in town is great! I did also find some great recipes for if someone wants to do this trip backpacker style. Just let me know if anyone is interested!
